February 17, 2017 (Grapevine, Texas) \u2013 Tarrant County\u2019s HISTORYMAKER Homes is excited to announce the move to its new company headquarters in Grapevine, Texas. The new building is 28,000-square-feet of combined office and showroom space (increased from 11,500-square-feet), and houses 130 DFW-area employees spanning the company\u2019s three brands, HISTORYMAKER Homes, Rendition Homes, and Rendition LUXURY Homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The company\u2019s continued growth spurred the move. In 2016, HISTORYMAKER and its sister brands completed more than 800 starts. The company\u2019s revenue more than doubled from 2014, at $90 million, to 2016, at $200 million. It is ranked #64 on the 2016 national Builder<\/em> 100 list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The company\u2019s growth can be attributed to a business model that has focused over the past ten years on new price points, products, geographies and markets. In the last decade, its reach has expanded from being primarily focused in Tarrant County to blanketing the Metroplex from Aledo to the west and Terrell to the east, north to Sherman and south to Waxahachie. The company also began building in Houston in 2016, with the goal of growing its Houston division over the next several years to the size of its Dallas operations. The three brands vary in starting prices from approximately $150,000 to more than $3 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIn addition to needing more physical space for more employees, it was important to become more centrally located as we continue to expand throughout DFW,\u201d said Nelson Mitchell, CEO. \u201cOnce we began to expand in Houston it made sense to be located near DFW airport to bring even more efficiency. Grapevine is also a central location for our customers as we bring them to our new 5,000-square-foot showroom. We are so happy they are a part of our community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The company is a fourth-generation family-owned business. Nelson Mitchell is the current president and CEO. His great grandfather, Olen N. Mitchell, Sr. started the company with his son, Olen, Jr., in 1949. He began the company with three employees out of the garage of his home, signing contracts on the hood of his car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThere will always be a need for housing and housing choices. Employees can check out bikes from wall racks and ride to Historic Downtown Grapevine, which is less than a mile away.
